Tour Prices and How to Book

Private Tours
I only run private tours and never mix groups. You and your travel companions or family will be the only people on the tour. Since starting WW2TV I have not continued with my French Transport Licence, so now I either join you in your own rental car, or I hire a driver and vehicle.

Tour Cost - joining you in your vehicle

375 Euros total per day (9 hours)

For tours with a driver, please contact me

If you search the internet you will find several cheaper options in Normandy and a few more expensive. You will however find that some guides charge additional fees for picks ups beyond a couple of preset locations, and sometimes charge you for the guide's lunch too. Some also charge if the tour overruns - even by a few minutes. If for any reason the tour is delayed I will not charge any extra penalty. My tour price does not however include any museum entrance fees - these are at your cost.

I take all payments in advance via secure PayPal online invoices I will send you . I usually take a 10% deposit at the time of booking and the balance 2 months before the tour. For bookings within 2 months of the tour date, I take all the payment in advance. If you prefer I can take all the payment at the time of booking.

Value for Money
So, why would you book me when there are other guides that are cheaper? Well, ultimately the decision is yours, TripAdvisor lists many guides all with mostly 5 star reviews, so you have plenty of choice. I too have excellent reviews from previous clients on the TripAdvisor website. I think what I am proudest of is the recommendations I get from professional historians, museums and authors. For example the National WWII Museum in New Orleans recommends me and I have been a guide on their own Normandy tours many times.

In addition to the quotes on my Homepage, here is what some professionals have said about me:

"With warm admiration, and gratitude for a wonderful shared trip to the battlefield." Sir Max Hastings, journalist and author of OVERLORD and ARMAGEDDON

"Paul Woodadge has a laser-like instinct for detail. As one of the world’s foremost battlefield experts, he knows every nook and cranny of Normandy." Patrick K O’Donnell, author of DOG COMPANY - THE BOYS OF POINTE DU HOC

"The best battlefield guide in the business." Alex Kershaw, author of THE BEDFORD BOYS and THE LONGEST WINTER

"I rate Paul Woodadge and his tours as the best in Normandy." Donald R Burgett, WWII Veteran and author of CURRAHEE and SEVEN ROADS TO HELL

As a consumer you have choice. There are many guiding options available for visitors to Normandy. I do what I do, and believe my reputation speaks for itself. Because I take small groups on tour and often for 2 or 3 days, I receive less reviews than larger companies on TripAdvisor, but you can read what people say about me there.

Payments
Once we have discussed your tour requirements and you have decided to book, I will generate an online invoice for a 10% deposit. Upon payment, you are definitely "booked" and the dates then appear in red as "booked" on my calendar and you are all set. Then I will send you a second invoice for the balance 2 months before your tour. If you do not pay either invoice within a few days, I will contact you again via e-mail and alas if I don’t receive the payments I will cancel the invoices and free up the dates for other clients.

Cancellation Policy
  • If you cancel your tour more than 90 days from the tour date, a full refund will be given.
  • If you cancel your tour less than 90 days and more than 60 days from the tour date you will be refunded the 90% balance. The 10% deposit in this case will not be refunded.
  • If you cancel less than 60 days and more than 30 days from the tour date I will refund 70% of the total tour payment.
  • If you cancel less than 30 days and more than 14 days from the tour date I will refund 50% of the total payment.
  • If you cancel less than 14 days from the tour date I will refund 30% of the total payment

In all cases - please check your holiday insurance for coverage.

If for any reason the tour is cancelled by DDay Historian Tours then you will be entitled to a full refund.
