Speaking at the Peace in Europe Conference.
From the website: WW2TV YouTube show owner and host Paul Woodadge opened the conference with a keynote address about the challenge of preserving the story of the Second World War and his highly successful YouTube project. “I am just the host, my guests provide the in-depth history,” he said. “Multiple shows about the same subject promote diverse opinions from different fields and disciplines. I’ve had guests from 37 countries, encouraging alternative interpretations of the same battles and campaigns. The youngest guest was 17, the oldest 100. I can do “niche stuff” that wouldn’t normally get published.” WW2TV has shown that there is an enormous audience for long-form information about the Second World War and the channel is getting 200,000 views a month, more than most military museums in the UK get as visitors. “But long-format content is not promoted by the dreaded YouTube algorithm,” Woodadge said. “In 2025, views are down. History Creators are scratching their heads as to why? The passing of Second World War eyewitnesses is a further issue for those seeking to tell the story of the conflict. Said Woodadge: “There will be challenges and we will have to face them together.” |
In 2024 I gave a talk on the Battle of Budapest at the We Have Ways of Making You Talk WW2 Festival in the UK.
